Katy Perry Popchips Debut

San Francisco — Popchips is partnering with best-selling popstar, Katy Perry, releasing Katy’s Kettle Corn in a Katy-themed pack at Target Brands, Inc. stores this month.

Perry says: “Popchips had never ventured into sweet territory before, but I wanted to add my personal touch when creating a flavor. So I rallied behind the idea of kettle corn. When I snack, I crave a little bit of sweet and a little bit of salt, but I had yet to find a healthier way to satisfy those cravings.”

Popchips claims the chips have less than half the fat of traditional fried potato chips. The new chips are available in 3.5-ounce bags with SRPs of $2.99 and in one-ounce bags with SRPs of $1.25. The larger bags ship in 12-ct cases and the smaller ones come in 24-ct cases. A case stack wrap for both sizes is available and features an image of Perry holding a bag of popchips.

CEO Keith Belling says Perry became an investor and creative partner in July and when she wanted to create her own flavor, “we couldn't wait to get started. Through the process we got a first-hand look at the drive, passion and attention to detail that's helped turn Katy Perry into a global popstar.”

The company says Perry designed the Katy's Kettle Corn three-ounce pack. The glittery bag is black and pink with a heart dotting the “i” in “popchips.”

Perry's album “Teenage Dream” debuted at number one in eight countries and has spent every week in the Billboard's Top 200 Album Sales chart since its release more than two years ago. She is the only female artist to have had five number one singles from one album on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
