90-Calorie Red Velvet Snack Cakes New From Weight Watchers
Jackson, MI — Weight Watchers International, Inc.’s Sweet Baked Goods division is debuting 90-calorie Red Velvet Creme Cakes with cream cheese filling and sweet icing.
Equivalent to two Weight Watchers points, red velvet joins the current line of lemon and carrot cakes. The 0.95-ounce products come individually wrapped in a six-ct pack that features a photo of the cake with the crème filling oozing from its center. The box is also printed with a point-value label and one that says the cakes are made with cream cheese and contain four grams of fiber and 90 calories.
Weight Watchers says the item is being introduced at a time when people struggle with New Year’s Resolutions: “According to a new survey from Kelton, research shows that almost half the people who made a resolution in 2012 stopped following through with it. It’s easier to stick to weight loss goals when you don't completely give up your favorite foods — even an indulgence like cake,” the company says.
