Valrhona Introduces Blond Chocolate Bar

Brooklyn, NY — Valrhona USA is releasing what it claims are the world's first blond chocolate bars.

The company reports the product smells of toasted Breton shortbread, caramelized milk and unrefined sugar.

The 85-gram bars, named Dulcey, were introduced in France during August and the UK during September, the company says, adding that it will soon launch the product in Asia before brining it to the Americas in early 2013.

The company reports the bar was created by mistake when chef Frédéric Bau left Ivoire chocolate in a bain-marie, which is a container that uses hot water for gradual heating, for ten hours.

In the UK the bars have a SRP of 4.50 GBP, or about $7.25.
