Lufkin, TX — Thousands of Twitter users participated in Atkinson Candy Co.'s virtual Twitter party this week as part of the company's “Guilt Free Treats” campaign.

The main topic of discussion was Atkinson's sugarfree and gluten-free options, which the company refers to as “Guilt Free Treats,” claiming they are ideal for people suffering from gluten intolerance or diabetes.

The sugarfree and gluten-free options include Chick-O-Sticks, Mini Twists and Peanut Butter Bars, and the company claims that consumer taste tests show the flavor profiles are similar.

Scott McElroy, director of marketing, says: “We want our consumer to feel great about eating our candies. Celiac disease, gluten intake, and sugar intake are all growing issues for candy lovers, so providing an alternative to families who are a bit more specific about what they eat was really a no-brainer for us.”
