Kettle Brand Chips Earn Non-GMO Verification
Salem, OR — Kettle Brand has become the first potato chip to achieve Non-GMO Project verification, claims Kettle Foods, Inc. The company achieved the verification for 16 of its flavors, which will begin hitting store shelves by January 2013. The company says its chips contain only natural ingredients, non-GMO oil and potatoes, and no trans fats, MSG or preservatives.
Kettle Foods has been working toward this verification since 2009, and says its goal is to eventually use no GMOs in any of its products.
Marc McCullagh, brand manager, says: “Kettle Brand has used natural, non-GMO ingredients since our founding. We have been working with the Non-GMO Project since 2009 to verify our products and give our consumers extra reassurance of the steps we take to ensure ingredients with integrity. Sourcing has not been the challenge, compiling the documentation required by the Non-GMO Project to earn verification has been the challenge for the Kettle Brand.”
