Jelly Belly Debuts Bulk Vending Machine

Fairfield, CA — The Jelly Belly Candy Co. has produced vending machines that allow consumers to choose their own mix of the candies.

The Jelly Belly Bulk Vend Machine contains five bins, each with the capacity to hold 25 pounds of jelly beans, the company says. Each tube will feature a different variety of the company's bulk mixes, such as the classic 49 Flavor Mix or the Citrus Mix.

The machine accepts credit cards and cash, and offers the choices of a 2.5-, five- or seven- ounce cup of jelly beans for $2, $4 and $6, respectively. Consumers are able to see into the machine where a robotic arm dispenses the beans they choose into a cup, which it then delivers to a door where it can be retrieved.

The company says the machine is environmentally friendly with a LED-lit interior and low-energy consumption.

Retailers who purchase the machine will be rewarded with 300 pounds of Jelly Belly beans free of charge, according to the company.
