Congressman Holt’s Tour Of Promotion In Motion
Somerset, NJ — Congressman Rush Holt (D-NJ) visited The Promotion In Motion Cos., Inc.'s manufacturing facility on Tuesday. He took a tour of the factory followed by a meeting with members from several departments, as well as representatives from other organizations.
With a scientific background himself, Holt was engaged in trying to understand the manufacturing process as well as how innovation in the field is determined from an R&D standpoint, says David Fleischer, vice-president of trade relations at PIM.
“He's advocating for creating more manufacturing jobs in the U.S. and he's trying to understand the difficulties that there might be for engaging people in the trades for employment,” Fleischer says. “He was impressed by our company's growth, and the number of people that we have employed over the past six years. But he was basically saying the success that we have had isn't mirrored across the country.”
Following the tour, Holt met with a group of about 30 people, including Fleischer, President and CEO Michael Rosenberg, the chief financial officer, chief operating officer, vice-president of manufacturing, and others. Representatives from companies that conduct business with PIM, such as a flavoring house, a distribution network and a trucking company, were also present at the meeting, which lasted about 40 minutes.
“We were trying to show the economic growth and benefit that our industry has had in the congressman's district, which I think he was impressed with," says Fleischer.
NCA President Larry Graham and Vice-President of Government Affairs Liz Clark were also present, and spoke to the congressman on sugar reform.
