Hi-Chew Donates $50,000 In Candy To High School Sports
Irvine, CA — Morinaga America, Inc. has donated more than $50,000 worth of Hi-Chew fruit chews to high school football teams across the U.S.
The promotion, now in its second year, asks football programs to hang up a Hi-Chew banner at their home field. In exchange, they are given 400 sticks of Hi-Chew to sell at the concession stand during games to raise money for the organization.Morinaga America says it has sponsored more than 260 football teams.
Clayton Perkins, marketing manager for Morinaga America, says: “The program is our grass-roots effort to support local communities in leading healthy and active lifestyles. That's kind of our brand positioning.”
While it's too late for interested football teams to participate this year, the promotion is available for other sports.
“We continue the program all year,” Perkins says. “We'll be starting soon with basketball, and then baseball in the spring.”
