Valero Separates Retail Business

San Antonio — Valero Energy Corp. says it is separating its retail business from its other operations after reporting record-high quarterly operating income.

Several options are being considered for the retail business, the company says, explaining the move will provide operational flexibility.

The retail segment saw an operating income of $172 million in the second quarter, compared with $135 million during the previous comparable period.
