Schaumburg, IL — On a weekly basis, some 60 percent of U.S. consumers read grocery circulars online, while 55 percent look for coupons and visit manufacturers’ websites, according to a survey by the Nielsen Co.
Among the most popular daily activities were using digital shopping lists and looking for deals online, the researcher reports. On a monthly basis, nearly 40 percent of respondents use the web to check prices and read consumer reviews, while 43 percent seek out deals and coupons.
The survey also revealed the five factors most influencing shopper purchase decisions are food labeling, retailer loyalty programs, increases in transportation costs, health aspects of an item and rising food prices, Nielsen claims.
