Researcher Predicts Health-Focused Innovation
Los Angeles — Candy suppliers are expected to increasingly target health-conscious adults in the next five years, such as by offering products with less sugar or with more functional aspects, according to researcher IBISWorld, Inc.
Product innovation is expected to positively impact candy sales during the next five years, the researcher says, forcasting a 1.7 percent increase in sales during 2012. However, consumers looking to eat healthier will temper growth during the period.
Additionally, consolidation is expected to continue through 2017 in the industry, IBISWorld says.
