Holiday Shopping Will Start Early

Austin, TX — About 39 percent of consumers will start their holiday shopping before November and 54 percent will finish after Black Friday, according to online couponer WhaleShark Media, Inc.’s RetailMeNot.com division.

Further, the company says women are more likely than men to start shopping early and are more likely to finish after Cyber Monday. Additionally, 31 percent of consumers plan to shop online this year.

The company forecasts a high demand for discounts, citing the 71 percent of consumers who think the economy is in bad or terrible shape.

One in four consumers are worried they won’t be able to make all the necessary purchases in the coming months, while four in 10 think they should be able to get most of what they need but won’t be able to afford it all.
