June Retail Sales Fall
Washington, DC — June retail sales, excluding motor vehicles and parts, totaled $328.5 billion, a 0.4 percent decrease from the previous month, according to advance estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau.
However, food and beverage, and grocery store sales increased 0.1 percent compared with May. Food and beverage sales totaled $52.5 billion, while grocery sales increased to more than $47 billion.
Compared with June 2011, retail sales, excluding motor vehicles and parts, increased three percent, while food and beverage store sales increased 2.5 percent. Grocery store sales were up 2.1 percent compared with the same period the year prior.
