Circulars Remain Grocers’ Choice
Livonia, MI — Weekly circulars remain the vehicle of choice for grocery stores, according to a Valassis Communications, Inc. survey.
The survey shows 75 percent of grocery retailers saw sales bumps as a result of offering print circulars. Half said sales grew, while 25 percent saw better customer retention.
In all, 90 percent of grocery retailers select weekly circulars for promotions. However, within the next five years, grocers expect digital and social media to expand and have a bigger impact on their strategies for promoting.
Further, the study reveals grocers are developing new marketing strategies, because 90 percent of customers plan differently by trip. Eighty-two percent of grocers say consumers are making more decisions at home, compared with three years ago.
