Goetze’s Awards $5K To Scouts
Lewisberry, PA — The $5,000 grand prize from Goetze’s Candy Co. Inc.’s Give & Goetze initiative was awarded to Cub Scout Pack 59, of Lewisberry, PA.
John Leipold, Goetze’s director of sales & marketing, surprised the group during a meeting to present the check to the scouts.
The initiative, which started in September and ran through the end of 2011, asked scouts to perform a community service project and then photograph it. Troop winners received “candy-grams” from Goetze’s to personally deliver to a charity of their choice and all winning entries were placed in the drawing for the grand prize.
The prize money will assist the scouts in purchasing equipment, taking educational trips and covering fees incurred while earning merit badges, Goetze’s says.
“We wanted to give the scouts the ability to spend some time really getting to know the people in their community while giving them a special treat; another opportunity for troops to not only do a good turn daily, but do a sweet turn daily,” Leipold says.
