Sam’s Gets New CEO, Walmart Appoints Execs

Bentonville, AR — Rosalind Brewer will succeed Brian Cornell as CEO and president of Walmart Stores, Inc.’s Sam’s Club stores, according to the company. She will report directly to Walmart President and CEO Mike Duke.
Brewer most recently served as president of Walmart’s eastern U.S. business unit. Prior to working for Walmart she held executive positions with Kimberly-Clark Corp. and Lockheed Martin Corp.
Being promoted to Chief Administrative Officer at Walmart is Rollin Ford, who has been with the company since 1983. He has served as an associate in the company’s logistics network as well as chief information officer. In his new role, Ford will focus on reducing expenses, leveraging scale and increasing productivity, Walmart says.
Gisel Ruiz is being promoted to executive vice-president and COO for Walmart U.S. and will be responsible for the company’s U.S. operations, which include more than 3,800 stores. She has served as executive vice-president for Walmart U.S. and was responsible for human resources and store innovation organizations.
Karenann Terrell will become the company’s chief information officer and will be responsible for Walmart’s global technology systems for stores, clubs, supply chain, merchandising and enterprise platforms. Prior to joining the company she was chief information officer for medical supply provider Baxter International, Inc., and held the same position for the Chrysler Group and Mercedes-Benz North America.
Walmart says all appointments will take effect February 1.
