Hershey, Ferrero Make Logistics Agreement
Hershey, PA — The Hershey Co. and Ferrero USA, Inc. have agreed to a joint warehousing, transportation and distribution deal.
The alliance is expected to improve supply chain efficiency and enhance competitiveness, according to Hershey. In addition, both companies say the agreement will further their corporate social responsibility efforts to lower greenhouse gas output and fuel consumption.
“Collaborative supply chain operations are a growing trend across industries as companies seek to fully leverage their logistics infrastructure,” says John Bilbrey, Hershey's president and CEO. “Although we are focusing on one region of our business, we are excited about the full potential of this project.”
Giuseppe D’Angelo, area manager for Ferrero Anglo/Americas, says: “We are in the early stages of launching this venture but are already excited about its potential to improve supply chain operations. Hershey is the ideal partner to work with us to achieve this goal.”
The deal does not include manufacturing, selling or marketing activities and is expected to be fully implemented in 2012.
