Candy, Snacks Lead New Product Growth
Chicago — Snack and gum products were among the top 10 food and beverage brands in terms of sales growth in 2010, according to a SymphonyIRI Group, Inc. study.
The Wonderful Pistachios brand, from supplier Paramount Farms, Inc., ranked third on SymphonyIRI’s top 10 list of New Product Pacesetters. The product line reached sales of $114.1 million in FDMx during 2010, coming in just below sales for Powerade Ion 4 and Chobani brands. Kraft Foods, Inc.’s Trident Layers also made the top 10 list, with sales of $53.9 million in 2010.
Overall, product launches in salty snacks and breakfast foods showed the most growth, representing more than half of new food dollars, according to the researcher.
