Mars HQ Achieves LEED Gold
Hackettstown, NJ — Mars Chocolate North America’s corporate headquarters is the first private-sector commercial interiors project in the state to receive Gold Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
Enhancements to the Hackettstown, NJ, site include water-conserving fixtures that cut water usage by more than 30 percent; an energy management system that lessens energy use by 15 percent, reflective roofing material that reduces heat gain to the building; and the use of more than 20 percent recycled content in materials including carpet and ceiling.
Todd Lachman, president, says the achievement is “a testament to Mars’ commitment to the environment and to the communities in which we conduct business.”
