Nestlé Wins Food Science Award
Vevey, Switzerland — Nestlé SA has received the President’s Award from the International Union of Food Science for its global leadership in food science and technology.
Specific to the company’s efforts in developing fortified foods are its targeted regional approaches to nutrition, the award committee cited. Nestlé is said to concentrate differing levels of added vitamins and minerals in countries where malnutrition is prevalent.
“We have to find solutions to nutrient insecurity in the many parts of the world where it exists,” says Werner Bauer, Nestlé’s executive vice-president and chief technology officer. “It is also a great honor to be recognized for our commitment to food safety. Food safety is absolutely non-negotiable.”
