Nestlé Reports Strong Half-Year Results
Vevey, Switzerland — Nestlé SA saw net profits rise 7.5 percent in the first half of 2010, totaling $5.28 billion, the company reports.
Across its food and beverage categories, growth was registered at 5.3 percent in the Americas, 3.6 percent in Europe and 10.4 percent in Asia, the company states, adding success was also seen in emerging markets across the globe.
CEO Paul Bulcke says: “Our very successful first-half performance is a result of the execution of our proven strategies in all parts of the world, covering the full range from premium brands to value-priced offerings. We have increased investment in our brands, people and capabilities and have prepared the company for a more challenging second half.”
Increased consumer marketing budgets were also cited as contributing to the company's gains.
