July Sales Jump For Walgreens

Deerfield, IL — Walgreen Co. registered July comparable store sales of $5.58 billion, a 6.2 percent rise compared with the same month in 2009.

Total front-end sales increased 9.4 percent, according to the company, while customer traffic was said to be up 0.6 percent.

Walgreens fiscal 2010 sales overall have reached $61.8 billion, up 6.3 percent compared with the past year.

During July, the drug chain opened 11 stores and closed eight.
