BI-LO Supermarkets Up For Sale
Greenville, SC — Grocery chain BI-LO, LLC is said to be up for sale, having emerged from Chapter 11 in May of this year.
Owned by private investment firm Lone Star Funds, BI-LO currently operates 207 supermarkets in North and South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee.
When the company filed for bankruptcy protection in March 2009, it cited the economic downturn and increased competition as factors. The chain was founded in 1964, and from 1977 to 2005, was owned by the European supermarket group Royal Ahold.
