BP Offers Compensation For Retailers
Houston — C-store retailers will receive cash, advertising help and reductions in credit card fees from BP PLC in response to consumer boycotts resulting from the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, sources report.
The company is offering a reported $50 million fund for more than 11,000 BP-branded c-stores and is introducing an ad campaign to remind consumers that most stations are locally owned and operated.
The compensation funds can be used at retailers’ discretion, according to sources.
