NASFT Awards Honor Innovation

New York — Winners of the 38th annual SOFI awards range from sweet and spicy to savory and tart across food categories.

Presented by the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade, the awards for outstanding food innovation included several candy and snack products.

These are: Chocolate, Poco Dolce’s Sesame Toffee Tiles; Confection, Almond Toffee from Amy E’s Bakery; Cookie, Effie’s Homemade Oatcakes; Cracker, Kitchen Table Bakers’ Rosemary Parmesan Crisps; and Snack Food, Cranberry Orango Tango from Nutorious.

According to NASFT, the competition drew a record 2,257 entries across 33 categories. The overall winner, named Outstanding New Product of 2010, was Rozendal Hibiscus Vinegar from South Africa. In addition, Knipschildt Chocolatier’s Ensemble Box of Easter Eggs won an Innovation in Packaging Design award.
