Nestlé Confections Improve Co. Sales
Vevey, Switzerland — Nestlé SA posted 9.2 percent growth in its confectionery business for its first quarter ending in March.
Sales for the period reportedly reached $2.8 billion, aided by launches of Cherry Raisinets, Butterfinger Snackerz and the extension of the Wonka brand into chocolate, according to the company.
Nestlé’s first quarter figures show 5.1 percent organic growth in food and beverage sales, from $6.8 billion to $7 billion in the Americas. The company expects category sales this year will outpace 2009 results.
