Mars Tests Snack Squares
Hackettstown, NJ — Mars Chocolate North America is testing goodnessKnows snack squares in Boulder, CO, before committing to a broader launch, according to the company.
The Almonds & Berries snack squares comprise roasted whole almonds, blackberries, red raspberries and toasted whole grains with special recipe chocolate that contains 200 mg of cocoa flavanols, the company says. Two other varieties are available: Very Cranberry, which combines cranberries, roasted almonds, pumpkin seeds, toasted oats and chocolate, and Roasted Nuts & Grains, which is roasted almonds, pistachios, hazelnuts, cranberries, toasted oats, pumpkin seeds and chocolate.
Each serving has 150 calories and delivers two to three grams of fiber, three grams of protein and 20 to 35 mg of sodium, according to Mars. They are available in single-serve and multipacks and have SRPs of $1.59 and $4.99 respectively.
According to a spokesperson, if the items get the approval of the typically health-conscious residents of Boulder, the snacks should do well in other markets.
The squares have promotional support through the web site goodnessKnows.com.
