Atkinson Adds Two Senior Staffers
Lufkin, TX — Atkinson Candy Co. appoints Doug Hanks as director of manufacturing and Nancy Ballenger as quality assurance manager, furthering the company’s growth after completing construction of a state-of-the-art Quality Control lab.
In the newly established positions, Hanks will ensure safety and efficiency in production and manufacturing. Hanks, a near 20-year veteran of the confectionery industry, will be responsible for all aspects of the production process, while Ballenger, who has worked for nearly 10 years in quality assurance, will manage the lab.
“We have always had a focus on quality products, and bringing these professionals on board is the perfect way to show our ongoing dedication to safety,” says Eric Atkinson, president.
In her new role, Ballenger tests samples of raw materials and develops recipes for new products, which is an essential part of the company’s growth, according to Atkinson. Flavor and moisture content testing, food safety requirements, and allergen and pathogen management are all vital goals of the lab, he adds.
“We intend to further improve our quality process, and I think these two key staffers will take us a long way in that direction,” Atkinson says.
